A Leap of Faith
Updated: Jul 28, 2022
This morning, just for a moment, I held a young grasshopper in my hand. It had been resting in the mesclun mix in my garden and came alive when I went at my weeding. It was quite a beautiful creature really, stunningly green all over. And as I placed my hand closer to the ground, it jumped off, landed near my feet, and turned around to look at me. It stayed there until I got up to check the broccoli and kale. I saw it hop under the pepper plants where there too were young green surprises. Perfectly formed, but miniature peppers dangled like little fancy lanterns above my new friend. Such a green new world as this brings me so much joy. And then it started to rain, just enough to dampen the back of my soft, old t-shirt as I stooped to pick stray weeds near the peas. Standing in the corn patch later, I said thank you, and smiled. It doesn't get much better than this.

I just looked up Grasshopper Spirit Animal and see that one of the reasons it shows up is to help us to take that leap of faith, to leap into the unknown, and to trust that it will work out. Funny, I was just remembering the other day a card my sister recently gave me which said, "Leap and the net will appear." She reminded me that our dad, who was always leaping into some new adventure or another, loved this quote. I am also reminded that when I am open to new adventures or experiences, and trust my gut so-to-speak, that I will be led down the paths I need to take. I am continuing to share more and more of myself with the world, through these posts, and with the people who come into my life each day. For example, I have been aware for a while now that the people who will benefit from seeing me for a healing session will find me. I am learning to trust this more and more. I am also preparing to launch some new projects! (More about this soon!) And maybe Grasshopper is there for this reason too today, leaping in just when I needed that reminder to take that leap of faith and trust.
Is it time for you too to leap into something new and maybe unknown? Maybe you're curious about trying a Reiki healing session. You might be pleasantly surprised. Reiki helps most people find that state of deep relaxation which then opens doors to further well being of body, mind and spirit.
